This book is the forty-eighth in the series Contemplative Reading of Scripture. It discusses the readings for the Weekdays of Ordinary Time, Weeks 16-18, Year B. This book follows the method of prayer introduced in earlier books of the series, called the “Prayer of the Heart to the Trinity,” giving again a description of this “Prayer.” In this prayer we place a veil over the busy activities of our brains and draw our inner attention to our hearts where we enter into prayer with the Trinity. Second, it follows the pattern of reading Scripture, called CLASP. These letters stand for: Cor, Lectio, Auditus, Suspiria, and Pax. We begin in our “heart” with prayer. We “read” through our Scripture passage. We “listen” to what this passage says to our hearts. We express in “sighs” to the Holy Spirit our longing to understand the Scripture more deeply. We end our prayer time in “peace.” Following this pattern of contemplative prayer and reading of Scripture, the Chapters treat the readings for the Weekdays of Ordinary Time, Weeks 16-18, Year B. Each chapter begins with a selection from Oswald Chambers, He Shall Glorify Me: Talks on the Holy Spirit and Other Themes (Hants UK: Marshall, Morgan & Scott, 1946). Each chapter ends with a selection from Knocking at God’s Door: The Personal Prayers of Oswald Chambers (Grand Rapids: Discovery House: 1957). The final Chapter gives Bibliography for Weekdays of Ordinary Time. All royalties from this book will go to support the Carmelite Sisters in Armstrong, BC. Read more
